Your Mustangs XC squad heading out to the dusty Riverside City Course to kick off their 2019 season. This has been their annual kick off meet ever since the removal of the Fastback Shootout from Mt. SAC. This 2.25 course has provided our program with a measuring stick to start off the season and this year did not disappoint.
The first race of the day was the Boys F/S race where your Mustangs dominated the competition. Sophomore Landen Breckner had a break out race while earning the individual win in leading your team to a 43-79 decision over Valley View HS. Your Mustangs place 6 athlete in the top 13 finishers. That 6 included two freshman, Alexander Stewart and Jude Enriquez, which bodes well for future success.
The next race up was the Girls F/S race where your Mustangs finished a mere 2 pts away from 1st place as a team which was impressive as two of our top F/S athletes did not compete on the day. The girls put their top 6 in the top 20 finishers, which put them in front of Walnut's #5 runner. Sophomore Jenna Lacuata led the way for the girls squad with 3 newcomers (Madison Chavez, Sienna Mora and Galilea Jimenez) making a big impact.
